Planimetric elements in geography are those features that are independent of elevation, such as roads, building footprints, and rivers and lakes. They are represented on two-dimensional maps as they are seen from the air, or in aerial photography. [1]

Planimetry consists of the identification and geolocation of basic land cover (e.g. forest, marsh), drainage, and anthropogenic features (e.g. urban infrastructure, transportation networks) in the x, y plane.

The Planimetric Qualification Design Tree was developed in coordination with the laws governing the regulatory subject, its published interpretations and our clients. The Regional Planimetric Data Project is a data acquisition endeavor facilitated by DRCOG. This project uses high-resolution imagery captured as part of the Denver Regional Aerial Photography Project (DRAPP) as a reference to digitize features of the built environment.
